| Ian began each helmet and figurative piece with the intent to make a bold simple statement. The materials he worked with had inherent values and qualities which communicated strongly to the viewer. He allowed the creative process to develop as it did. This intuitive approach married the subliminal to the stated, and reinforced the primal qualities of the materials themselves. As a tribute to Ian, we are trying to consolidate Ian's work on his website. So just a gentle request: if you own one of Ian's paintings, sculptures or sketches (which is not displayed on the site), would it be possible for you to take a good picture of it and to email us the picture at info@ianmcdougall.ca? We'd like to post them. |
